Daniel Perantoni

Spring 2026

Daniel Perantoni, Tuba-Provost Professor, (retired) Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University. Dan or “Mr. P” as his students call him is a legendary tuba artist, teacher and pedagogue as well as a trailblazer in a variety of genres including work as a solo recitalist, chamber musician, jazz musician, and instrument design. He was given the Lifetime Achievement Award by the executive board of T.U.B.A. A true legion of former students holds prestigious positions in major performing ensembles and music schools around the world.

Technical Sgy. Alison Miserendino

Spring 2026

Technical Sgt. Alison Miserendino is a euphoniumist with the Ceremonial Brass. A native of Burke, Virginia, she joined The Air Force Band in 2020.

An accomplished soloist, Sgt. Miserendino has received several international accolades. In 2010, she was the winner of The United States Air Force Band’s own George S. Howard Young Artist Competition. Additionally, she was runner-up in the International Women’s Brass Conference’s Mock Audition competition in 2014, and in 2016, she was awarded a Bronze Medal in the Artist Division of the Leonard Falcone International Euphonium Competition.

Brandon Smith

Fall 2025

Dr. Brandon Smith serves as Assistant Professor of Tuba and Euphonium at the University of Kentucky and is Principal Tuba with the Lexington Philharmonic. He previously held a similar position at Valdosta State University where he was Principal Tuba of the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra. Smith has presented recitals and masterclasses at leading institutions around the nation, including the Eastman School of Music and Oberlin Conservatory.

Patricio Cosentino

Fall 2024

Is the most active South American tuba player, having made a career as a soloist, chamber musician and conductor.After receiving his musical degree under the tutelage of the celebrated tuba player, Walter Hilgers, at the Hochschule für Musik ‘Franz Liszt’ in Weimar, Germany, in 2009, he went back to Argentina to accept the position as principal tuba with the National Symphony Orchestra.Patricio became the first tuba teacher in the country with a University Degree.

Øystein Baadsvik

Fall 2023

Øystein Baadsvik is voted one of the top ten brass players in history by the listeners on Classic FM. He did the first TED talk on the topic tuba and is one of the most popular classical musicians on YouTube with more than six million views. His multi-faceted musical career as a soloist and recording artist has taken him all over the world. He regularly gives masterclasses and clinics at major universities worldwide.

Isomer Quartet

Fall 2022

The members of Isomer Quartet have been prizewinners at multiple international competitions, released numerous albums, and essentially are trying to “do all of the things.” Individually, they are mostly college professors, on faculty at Louisiana State University, The Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University, and Texas Woman’s University. One of them is enrolled at Harvard Law School.

Beth Wiese

Fall 2022

Leading a multi-faceted career as a performer and teacher, Beth Wiese is Associate Professor of Tuba and Euphonium at Vanderbilt University, Principal Tuba of the Asheville Symphony Orchestra and Acting Principal Tuba.

Steven Mead

Fall 2021

James Jenkins

Fall 2021

James Jenkins is Principal Tuba with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra and the founder of the nonprofit organization Body & Soul which works with health care providers to provide the gift of music to patients.

Thomas Leleu

Spring 2020 and Spring 2025

At only 34 years of age, Thomas Leleu is considered as “one of the best tuba players of the world” (Radio France)  and a “world star of the tuba” (Europe 1, TMC – french national TV). Aubrey Foard

Spring 2020

Aubrey Foard is the principal tubist of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, a position he has held since 2018. He also serves as lecturer of Tuba and Euphonium at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and as Artist Faculty at the Brevard Music Center.

Charles Villarrubia

Fall 2018 and Spring 2025

Charles Villarrubia is Professor of Tuba/Euphonium at The University of Texas at Austin. He received degrees in music performance from Louisiana State University and Boston University. Mr. Villarrubia has been a member of the Dallas Brass, the Waterloo Festival Orchestra and the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra and has performed with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops Orchestras.

Alex Lapins

Fall 2018 and Spring 2026

Alexander Lapins, associate professor of tuba/euphonium, teaches applied tuba and euphonium, chamber music, brass pedagogy, and performs with the faculty brass quintet at the University of Tennessee School of Music. He is a founding member of Quintasonic Brass, and during the summer he serves as an instructor at the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. Lapins has also taught at Northern Arizona University, the University of Indianapolis, and Indiana State University.

Austin Howle

Fall 2017

Austin Howle has served as the Principal Tuba of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra since 2013. A native of Oxford, Mississippi, he has performed in ensembles across four continents and 15 countries. FSU Alum.
